Training Week continued...

I had training this past week. It went really good and I am really enjoying my job! I am trying to think of some ways I can bring my own magic to the Canada Pavilion. I thought of a few things but would always like suggestions if you can think of anything!?

For those of you who may not know or may have asked I am going to tell you a little bit about what exactly I do in Disney World. If you have any further questions after my explanation don't be afraid to contact me to ask.

So first I'm going to start by saying that there are three different parts to the Canadian Pavilion:
- Food and Beverage (includes Popcorn/Beer Cart and the signature Restaurant, Le Cellier)
-Attractions ( a 360 degree movie about Canada narrated by Martin Short)
- Merchandise (Trading Post and Cart)

Merchandise is the part that I work in which makes sense since I spent two years working at the Disney Store. So as i mentioned above this includes the Trading Post and the Cart. We rotate between the two places as one is outdoors and one is in a nicely air conditioned building.

In the Trading Post we sell a variety of Canadian stereotypical products such as maple syrup, moose stuffies, maple leaf decor and such. We also carry things that are from Canada for example covered bridge chips, Goat Mountain soap. And of course the Hockey room where we carry merchandise for the Montreal Canadians, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames. Sadly we carry no Edmonton Oliers or Ottawa Senators products.

The cart is outside on the main path of the world showcase we have a couple shirts and small products but not to much. Our main focus is our leather engraving. Here I was taught how to engrave into leather bracelets, leather key chains and leather bag tags. This is probably one of my favorite things to do.

All my training is now finished and I am free to just make the magic with guests well helping them to understand our culture. Lot of Canadians from the east coast come to stop in and say Hi and slowly I am developing a knowledge of not only the west side of our beautiful country.  It has been an amazing opportunity thus far and I am still excited to see what the future holds.

Here are a few highlights of this week that are not from training:

Gourmet Dinner. (Gotta love living on your own) The last couple nights I have made dinner for Forest and I. These dinners have ranged from frozen pizza to chicken fingers and fries. I have also made pasta and tacos.

Sat and watched the Fireworks at Epcot one night just because I could!

My view on my walk to work!

What a wonderful friend I have! Rearranging my house! All well I make him dinner.....

Well that is all for now. Stay tuned for another post about my park adventures on my last couple days off.
